Sudden change in screen layout

Last week, I was on chess.com when the layout suddenly changed on me. This is what my Live Chess interface looks like now:

As you may notice, I have to scroll all the way down to the bottom/lower half of the screen if I want to look at my or my opponent's previous moves, or if I want to chat with my opponent. I find this rather annoying, and have no idea what I did to bring about such a change (what did I do wrong?!). FWIW, this layout only appears if I go on chess.com with my Microsoft Surface Pro. With my laptop, everything is as it was.

Any suggestions about how I can get the interface to go back to how it was?

The is seeing the Surface as a tablet and is loading the mobile optimised site. Do you have an option in the browser to force desktop mode?

I just solved the problem. I somehow managed to force/coax the machine into desktop mode. I still have no idea how I did it.
