tactical vs positional?

whats the difference between a tactical player and a positional player?  I know its probably a dumb question but...

The tactical player will try to win the game with a tactical combination. He therefore prefers agressive play and chaotic positions with tactical chances.

The positional player is trying to improve his position all the time. He is looking for small advantages, prefers solid, healthy positions, tries to avoid weaknesses etc.

Which do think is better ?

I prefer positional play. It is more chessy and less luck. But at my strenght the positional intended game often ends in a tactical blow instead a slow conversion of a positional advantage :(
