Does it really neccessary for a chess player to know special tactics, or read chess books, study the strategies of the grand masters--or just an option?

note from the author:

brief and precise answer will do the best for me.

I am a chess player, that always plays chess in every time of my life that had the opportunity to play with anyone. I don't read books, study the strategies-- but I played a lot, and that counts the experience. I just always remember the moves.

thanks to whom it may concern.

Studying anything by a grandmaster unless you are at least 1800+ is only going to help you a little bit. Grandmasters often make incomprehensible moves which the rest of us would never see in a game. Study games by people that are rated 200 points above you, this is the best for learning.

Strategy is important at your rating, and more so at higher ratings. Tartakower said that tactics is what you do when there is something to do; strategy is what you do when there is nothing to do.
