The country (flag) you struggle against?

When I play chess online, I almost never win against Ukrainian players. I dunno, my record vs them is awful I think

Do you struggle terribly versus players of a certain country?

Philippines – for some reason I feel like I come across a lot of cheating with that flag.  Maybe they don’t cheat but the moves are so evenly spaced out that even when I know they should think about the next move they don’t… the move pace stays the same.  I don’t like playing against that flag so much so that I almost all the time abort or just wait for the stupid server to abort.

Mostly Russian players and many American players as well.

Spectator94

I usually lose to Dutch and Belgian people. I however do pretty well against Finnish, American and German players.

HolyFlame777

im an equal oppurtunity loser  i lost to every flag under the sun it seems

I remember depressing results with Ukrainians as well, interesting. Otherwise I don't notice much. I've been losing to a fair amount of women recently, though.

Now that I think about it, I remember lots of losing streaks against those from India, even ones lower rated. Usually when I'm up late, blundering everything. They're nice about it though, haha.

Ziggyblitz

The Netherlands and Germany.

Iran is strong. I only score 0.5/2 against 'em

Kasporov_Jr

India usually has the easiest chess players, and the UK has the strongest for some reason.

I agree that most Indian players are fodder but the UK I love playing against them. Some exciting chess they play. They lose but it's still exciting.

Pashakviolino

Philipinnos have been the toughest for me.

I do fairly well against Russian players, and for some reason in this site german players are not as strong as german players that are on playchess.com

Remellion

I always kena stomp (get crushed) by Singapore and Malaysia players when I randomly run into them. Seems like they've all cleared out of my rating range long ago.

The Polish players seem easier to me though, and not just those chancing the opening of that name.

Elubas

Haha, to have any pride for their country they have to play both the polish opening and the polish defense! Poor guys...

Indians on the other hand have many choices :) Maybe that's why I can't beat them!

miranda_please

I lose a lot to Indian and Iranian players..  but that might just be because they are more common at my rating for some reason.

iMacChess

I play using the iOS app on my iPad so I don't see no flag until after the game when I go to the Chess.com page and check. When they come out with the new app I hope they fix it so I can see the flag. I love playing the Russians they play very good Chess...

ClavierCavalier

Maybe it is just psychological.  Tru putting something in front of their flag so you don't know where they're from.  Check after the game to see where they were.

MSC157

OK, a challenge for everyone. How many times did you play a Slovenian player? :)

stupid-boy

No,I care about the rating only and not the flag or other thing!

SmyslovFan

In live chess, I struggle against players in eastern Europe. That is mostly because when I play them it is ~1am for me and ~9 or 10am for them.

bobbyDK

I don't know if it is relevant for playing strength which flag I play against

I just find it exciting one moment I can play against one from India the next moment one from Italy and the next one from the US.

I pay more atttention to the rating. if a person has e.g. 1400 on chess.com, he is 1400 rated regardless where the player comes from.
