The Hardest Chess Variant

Sounds like Kriegsspiel (which you can play on ICC). Except I don;t believe they use a strike rule there, and you just move until you find a legal move. (So it is custom to start trying all Pawn captures, in the hope you get lucky.)
I am not sure this variant is 'difficult'. It seems more dependent on luck than on skill.
What I like better along these lines is 'Dark Chess': there you get informed (by computer or referee) about the contents of all squares your own pieces are on or can move to. (I.e., you use your own moves to see the board.)
Hi Everyone, Let me know what you all think of my chess variant. It's inspired by Battleship, poker, and RTS video games such as StarCraft.
Double-Blind Chess requires three chess boards and two chess sets. Both players each have a separate board and set up their pieces only. They are not allowed to see the board or pieces of their opponent. A third person or computer, the referee, sets the match up with both sets of pieces on a separate board, and notifies both players when a move has been made, when and what piece has been captured, when a king is in check, or if an illegal move has been attempted. If an illegal move is attempted, the player is penalized with a strike, and is allowed to re-attempt a legal move. Accumulating three strikes in a single turn results in forfeiture of the game.
