I looked up “J’adoube” in a real french dictionary in case anyone is curious.

It translates as “What an I doing? If I move that piece I’m lost!”

There was a Yugoslav GM (back when Yugoslavia was a single country) called Matulovic who was so infamous for taking back moves with the excuse "I said j'adoube!" that he was nicknamed "J'adoubovic" by the other GMs.
