The Minimum Rating Required to be A Grandmaster is 2500!

Just thought I'd point that out.

To become a GM, a player must acquire a FIDE rating of a minimum of 2500. Moreover, the player must achieve at least three GM norms or 27 games to be eligible. A GM's score may dip below 2500 during their tournaments. However, they don't have to keep their score at 2500 throughout their career to keep this title.

Also;

The United States Chess Federation (USCF) awards the Title of National Master to anyone who achieves a USCF rating of 2200, and the title of Senior Master to anyone who achieves a USCF rating of 2400 along with certain performance-based 'norms' during tournament play.

Nothing wrong with making a mistake, as long as you don't admit it. And correct it, right away!

The Grandmaster title is also automatically conferred, without needing to fulfill the above criteria, when winning the Women's World Championship, the World Junior Championship, or the World Senior Championship, or a Continental Chess Championship, given that the player's peak FIDE rating is at least 2300. Current regulations can be found in the FIDE Handbook.

ONLY under special circumstances.

You left that part out, Wiki shows.

@DesperateKingWalk is wrong

An Elo rating of at least 2500 at any point (although they need not maintain this level to obtain or keep the title).The rating requirement can be fulfilled even if the player starts a tournament rated below 2500 and then reaches or exceeds a 2500 rating during the tournament but eventually concludes the tournament with a rating lower than 2500.

You were incorrect there. If you do not state something it's not there; unless it can be theoretically inferred from what is already stated.

One_Zeroith

In chess, he was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE for winning the 2008 World Seniors Championship (which he later retroactively shared with Mihai Suba). Kaufman had been previously awarded the title International Master in 1980.

Again, it was under special circumstances that he won the GM Title.

One_Zeroith

Nothing there that states, without winning sort on world tournaments.

If you have 2300 without this, it won't count. 2500 automatically gets you there.

You did not elaborate on your 2nd post here.

Wins

I believe you can also get the GM title from as a direct title for winning a large tournament

Nope I was correct.

You have to have success in very special tournaments AS well as have 2300. If you don't have success I these you won't be awarded the Grandmaster Title.
