The Queen's Gambit....Netflix series!

It dragged my child-chess-years back from the back of my brain and me back to trying some chess. I'm nowhere near 12yo me, but this series reawoked something I almost forgot was there <3

The scene in the final tournament when the old dude kisses her hand after losing to her was *barf*

I love that accent.

They originally wanted to get Kasparov, but he had other commitments. My sense is that they got an actor who resembled him.

Right, Kasparov is well-known for gracefully aplauding his opponent after he/she played a brilliancy against him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BadFRN106CY
I've seen some clips from that mini-series, it seems to be very interesting. Btw they have Bruce Pandolfini as a Chess advisor ( shades of " Searching For Bobby Fischer " ? ).

Funny thing. So I was rewatching Queen's Gambit again, and I realized that during the first match between Harmon and Borgov, they played with the set of German Knights Timeless. This is totally inaccurate when this set, which is so globally popular, was released after 1975 (they started to be very popular from around 1980-1990). Of course, this is a fictional story, but looking into how well they recreated the era and how much they tried to focus on the details as much as possible, that is a mistake .
