Um I play nimzo so I like it

Never tried either

I like it too but I find its a nice companion opening to the Chigorins queens gambit. Also, its an interesting way to play against the London.

I played it for a while, my results with it weren't that bad, but I just didn't like how the center comes out on the main line of the Exchange Variation - 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. e4 Nxc3 6. bxc3.  Black has allowed the e4 thrust, and lost a piece with which to challenge the big pawn center.  Further, 5. ..Nxc3 trades a knight which has moved three times for one which has moved only once.

These days, I usually play 1. ..e6 in response to 1. d4, which leaves my options open depending upon whether white follows with 2. e4 or 2. c4.  When I do play 1. ..Nf6, I'm usually aiming for a Queen's Indian Defense.

What do you not like about the Nimzo-Indian Defense?

Deranged

I briefly tried the Nimzo-Indian Defence and it was fairly solid. I reached a lot of pretty decent middlegame positions where I felt I had enough space and enough activity to do stuff.

Currently playing the Benko Gambit but I'm actually beginning to hate it. I always get cramped for space and there aren't many attacking chances. You're forced to play slowly and defend until you reach an endgame (if you're lucky enough to make it that far).

I think I'll switch to the KID. All the games I've seen with the KID look exciting and it suits my style.

Never tried the Grunfeld, but from what I've heard, it's one of those annoying hypermodern setups where you give up the entire centre, like the Pirc Defence or the Alekhine Defence, so I'll avoid it.

Nimzo is boring but more stable and generally better

Ugh, a lot of lines to remember. I was playing it for a while, I still play it but very difficult opening.

Yeah...for that reason Im not comfortable playing it against higher rated players, but I find most lower rated players arent up on the theory on it....especially in OTB play. It is also a good weapon to have against off the wall systems. For instance, in a corresponence game I recently faced 1. d4 d5 2. b4 and I wouldnt have known what to do as black if I hadnt studied the Grunfeld.

true they both good openings but it depends on the player you on like if you like to attack DO NOT play nimzo because you will play very solid even though there are some attacking stuff that happenes
