Time to ban

Hello,

hopefully I can get someone from the staff to reply, as I have two questions:

Firstly - How much time it takes for a cheater to get banned after you report them (assuming the person is actually a cheater)? If there is an usual, approximate time period that it takes...

Second - I read a support article and I found this section:

Using an engine in a rated game will get your account closed, even if the other player knows you’re doing it! This confusion happens more often than you might think. One scenario we have encountered is two friends who were trying to see which engine was stronger by playing engine moves in a game against each other.

What about unrated games then....? Does that mean you can use engine in unrated games or against chessdotcom bots? Or does that sentence simply imply that you will get banned in every case of using an engine and the word "rated" was just somehow kinda mistakenly placed there? Maybe it's a dumb question, but until today I have lived in an impression that engines are forbidden whether it is a rated or unrated game. That is the reason I am asking this question.

There's not really an average time to ban. It can happen minutes after reporting, a few days, or may not happen if there's not sufficient evidence of unfair play or the games are clean.

As to the other question, the rules have recently changed and no engine use is allowed against other members.

The article on the Support pages hasn't been updated; the old policy allowed it in unrated if your opponent was aware of the usage.
