Alas chess.com is caught between a rock and a hard place on this one. Obviously rewriting the rules of chess is not a great idea, but when you have so many members abandoning games, what should they do? I think the current system is a reasonable compromise. Last I read you have half the total time of the game for any one move. Maybe they've changed it, or maybe you took a little longer than 60 seconds on that move, I don't know. I just thought you should know that yours is not the first post on the subject. A great hue and cry went up when it was first implemented; you can't mess with the rules of chess without rancorous discussion but I think most have accepted it as a necessary compromise. Like a lot of things around here though they should do a better job of letting people know about their policy.
Why does CHESS.COM site records a lost to me when i am playing a game of chess.I am playing in a 5 min game and i take maybe 60 seconds on a move and for some reason the system decides i am no longer playing that i have abandoned my game. This is really a very odd way of playing chess, surly i have the right to use my time as i see fit!!!
