Hi I am looking for tips on blitz because I keep losing in it. My rapid play isn't half bad but in blitz, I suck. So is there any tips on playing blitz? Thanks!

Try not to panic and play too fast (especially if you have an increment).

You just need to find a good plan and be flexible.

Also, be extra aware of tactics.

I love blitz.

Find an opening that you can play as both white or black when playing blitz. Develop, castle and attack your opponent's king should make you successful in your blitz. Have a game plan. Hope it helps.

If you are not playing increment, make sure you are ahead in time so important. And also try to grind to the endgame. With increment play more tactical and don't let your opponent get a better position.

Think on your opponents' time. Time is a big factor!

Sacrifice your opponent's pieces instead of your own.

Just be natural and play

In Blitz and in Rapid: In the opening, make your moves at a pace that is comfortable for you. You have to move quickly, but don't rush - especially if your opponent is rushing. Some players rush moves in the opening. If you play one of them, you are better off taking an extra second or two looking for mistakes than you are trying to match their speed.

Play a lot of games, eventually you will get comfortable with timing. I used to think that I had to rush when playing 3 minute, now I think I have plenty of time to pace myself.

I was stuck at around 800 for ages in blitz, but then I spent a couple of weeks just playing blitz and got up to 1100. I play with one opening for white and black, and the more I play the same opening the more I remember the mistakes/good moves to make in positions that regularly come up as a result
