And does Vlad accompany you?

Never heard of such a ruling in years of OTB chess. Did he/she give any reason, small venue, too much noise from previous rounds, complaints baout people getting advice etc?

Nothing. He said it was 'to be fair'.

in most tournaments I have played in they didnt allow spectators. I mean they could come by but they had to wait until after the game to see me. Its not that big a deal, unless your friend was giving you moves or something that is .

Lol I would be losing a lot more if my friend was giving me moves :P ... we've already played in this tournament and I won quickly :D

The word spectate comes from the Latin Spectare = to watch. So there should be no problem with anyone watching or "seeing you". You're right they shouldn't be able to talk to you until after but that's not what we're talking about i think.
Just a question for someone a little more experienced in tournaments than me (I play in them all the time but I've never directed one).
The TD of a tournament that I'm in right now has added a rule that bugs me a bit.
The tournament is a round robin that extends over several weeks. We're about halfway through right now. Anyways, he's sent an email out to all participants directing them to not invite spectators to the games. Quite frankly I disagree. If you're playing in a public place (which we usually do... although the location is by mutual agreement) you should be allowed to invite whoever you want, provided no real FIDE (or national) rules are broken.
Am I wrong? Or has the Tournament Director made a mistake?
Ps - Adding the rule half way through the tournament is also weird in my humble opinion!
