Tournaments and Timeouts

I tried to join some tournaments so I can catch up to awardchess and bury him in the overall but I have not been able to join one yet.  Apparently my timeout ratio is too high.  It seemed the norm was a 10% or less rule and I have around 30 of them giving me a 49% ratio.  Now I guess this means I would have to complete 300 or so more games without a timeout which will probably take a while.  Is it against site rules for me to just close this account and start a new one?  Or maybe the tournament directors can make an exception for me since I win almost all of my games.  Any help would be appreciated, I won't be timing out out anymore.

Is it against the rules?

No. Timeout all you want. Fill your boots. But you do now know the consequences.

If you want to compete with AwardChess, I'd suggest you cough up a premium membership just for the automatic timeout protection.

I'm not going to pay for a premium membership if I can't even enter tourneys.  My question was is it against the rules for me to kill this account and and start another one so I can start playing in tourneys?  Is there a way to cancel my current account or can chess.com grant an exception for me since my play is just that, exceptional.  Like I said I won't be timing out anymore.  Or perhaps we can barter a deal where I pay for a membership and Chess.com deletes my timeouts.  Or even better Chess.com pays for my membership and I promise not to timeout anymore.  And in return I offer chess lessons at half the price to those who were less fortunate to receive the training that I did. I'm open to suggestions here I'm hoping some admins reply so we can talk shop.

Also, apparently a second account is against the rules - they would prefer you to just have one account and not close it, to carry on with it. That said, if you did close it and open a new one with a new email address, especially if you were connecting from a shared computer, I don't see how they could reasonably stop you. Blocking the IP would block other potential users in this situation - really, it's up to your conscience.

Yea I'm not proposing that they let me have 2 accounts I know that is against the rules, just wondering if there was an easy way to cancel this account if chess.com didn't want to barter with me.  I gotta get me some tournaments.

What the hell are you talking about - you are rated below 2000 - just a beginner! Sonny, you need to *take* leesons, not give them. [I am only below 2000 because I was bored of chess for a while and offered a draw on move 10 or so to a novice, dropping 46 points. And I consider myself an advanced-beginner, nothing more... I mean look at my 2 ongoing games - opp is 2200+ and is miserably lost in one, and in serious trouble in another.]

So, at least, stop saying you are *good* at chess. You are a beginner.

Let's see - your 'best win' is against someone only slightly better than novice! I mean, the best win you can manage is against a someone with a miserable 1734 rating player and you want special consideration????? My my, you need to be on medication - that's the special consideration you need.

Get well soon.

I'm not a 1900 player keep watching I had mostly timeouts because my computer died, I've lost a couple of games and all the rest have been won, I haven't even begun to play seriously.  My rating will skyrocket past yours in the coming days and trust me I will tank many good players.  Oh nice job there offering a draw to a novice losing 46 points, great fighting spirit you have.  What, did you get a little depressed?  Was it the season?  I know you are bipolar you've stated it in the past on these forums so that is fair game.  Am I bouting with your manic side here?  Listen I agree with you , you are at best an advanced beginner, but once again watch me sore past you with ease in the coming days.

Oh and... nice Live Chess rating, that is indicative of your true skill wherein you have no outside help and you are around 1400's and 1500's so as you aptly stated, you are a beginner.  Yet I guess when you get to shuffle the pieces around for hours with the analyze the board function in Online Chess you start getting delusions of grandeur.  I have no delusions, watch my rating.

p.s. You'll probably say what does blitz or quick chess have to do with someone's real skill!!!???!!!  It's simple, find me a great player who is not great at blitz and bullet.  You'll almost never find it, unless of course they are really really old.

ItsAlwaysSunny

Good, so we can then establish that you are at no point of reference to be dispersing wisdom of any kind.

p.s. I didn't mean that it was "good" that you have haphazardously added years to your life.  That's bad I wish you hadn't.

*You* seriously need to be on lithium, kid.

ItsAlwaysSunny

Anyway back to the topic, I guess it's been decided.  I'm going to have to give a 300 game simul of chess domination to get below the 10% timeout level.  It's going to be a thing of beauty.  To all my future opponents, it'd be advisable to wear sunglasses while observing the radiant brilliance of my play.  It's always sunny on my side of the board.

normajeanyates

Kid, you seriously need to be on lithium!

repost:

But I dont see the relevance of your manic rant. I am a beginner. *You* do not even know the rules of chess properly, grandson.

---

Ask for specially consideration after you have *soared* to 2500 or so, not on the promise of *soaring*. No one is buying futures - the full consequences of the housing bubble bust are yet to kick in and you're trying to create a *soaring*-futures bubble? Well good luck trying to sell that sort of stock to chess.com.

ItsAlwaysSunny

No keep that lithium supply in your medicine cabinet Normajean we both know its right at home there.  Listen, you may howl at the moon all you like, heck I'm sure that comes natural to you - but it won't change the outcome of my statements.

Now on a sympathetic note, here's to hoping that your incredible amount of poor decisions in life don't catch up with you.

not counting any that u might have been losing but timed-out

not exactly a great player.

As I've said before I just blitzed through those games no databases or analysis boards and I will do the same with my upcoming games.  It's no matter, I'll still climb my way to the top.  I never said I'd be undefeated although I know I would be if I plodded along real slow and took hours to make my moves like some of the quote unquote "best".  But where's the fun in that?  None if you ask me.  My talent is so far over everyone else I can spend way less time on a move and still dominate.  I'll have my losses but my wins will be spectacular and my rating will soar.

By the way irYRadiance, your rating is 1885 and your average opponent's rating is 1400. LoL   Not exactly a glowing portrait of your chess game.  Your profile says you hate to lose.  Well, that is apparent, which is why you choose to play only those that have no chance of beating you.  Very strong you are.

Look out for yourself kid - *your* poor decisions would have already burnt you out, except that there was nothing to burn to begin with.

Nothing to burn. Airhead - one can quibble with that. What about vacuumhead.. sounds right.

See vacuumhead strolling along beaches of miami, shooting toy-guns in the general direction of Cuba.

FIDEL CAN GIVE YOU Q-ODDS AND STILL BEAT YOU BLINDFOLD!

HAHA good one!  You gave everyone a good laugh................... Ok now seriously Norma, it's time to take your lithium.

Hell, Fidel can give this joke - are you a joker or a joke, ItsAlwaysSonny ? A joke, right!-  King-Odds and STILL BEAT HIM BLINDFOLD!

Yea I bet thats what happened.

Ok well I guess thats about it!  I've essentially gotten my answer to the tournament timeout question.  See you all on the 64 squares.

Ice Princess, be good and give deep thought to what I've said.

Reuters, Nov 29, 2008:

ItsAlwaysSunny beats Kramnik, Anand and out-of-retirememt-specially-for-this special-occasion Kasparov in a 120-game simul - 40 against each - with an incredible all-win score!

Unbelievable, ItsAlwaysSonny allowed all 3 opps to play both sides for the first five moves. Given such incredible odds, the three GMs got so nervous they forgot to deliver the Fool's Mate [aka Chessplayer's Spouse] ! In all 120 games!

STOP PRESS: The Swedes announce that *all* Nobels of 2009 will be given to IisAlwaysSonny! Also, all Nobels starting 1901 will be taken away from winners and given to ItsAlwaysSonny!

ItsAlwaysSunny

Norma that is all I ever wanted, to receive the recognition that I truly deserve.  Thank you that was a great post.  Now we can go on forever, you telling me I suck, me telling you you are bipolar and suck... and round and round we go.  It's fun but I have to start playing if I'm ever going to get below 10% in timeouts.
