It seems to me they are a waste of time, but let me tell you my story.
I enter a 2 minutes bullet tournament, and there are 24 players, 7 rounds.
When the tournament starts, I find myself kicked in another tournament with just 6 players! From 7 rounds becomes 3 rounds.
I withdraw, and lose 200 points. Why? I didn't sign-up for the Open tournament, I was in the 1200-1499 category with 24 players. They should give someone a choice.
My conclusion is that tournaments here are not really worth the time, if one adds the cheaters, becomes totally useless to play in chess.com
