it takes some getting used to but eventually it'll be second nature.
OTB Tournaments should be CLOCK-MOVE, not touch move
Hmm...

in OTB chess you think about your move then make your move. if the touch move principle becomes an issue then you haven't thought about your move for long enough.

The point of the touch move rule in OTB chess is precisely that you are not allowed any assistance, notes, or other aids to playing the game. If you move pieces around the board, you are in effect using an analysis board to help you play the game.
Yes, it is shallow analysis, but it still violates the spirit of OTB play, which is that you are doing the analysis yourself without aides or assistance of any kind.
Touch move. Ever play anyone that fingers up several pieces, or moves a piece all over the boad and returns it to it's original square or even forgets where it belongs? it's infuriating and horrible manners.

Touch move is good enough. And that's saying something I once played this game
I was so pissed I screamed the f word out loud (and a lot of people in the playing hall just weirdly stared at me) when I accidentally touched my King, and I kept playing just to waste my opponent's time. I was obviously going to play Bb3, but my hand betrayed me.
Anyways, the point is that I learned from that experience and I've never had another incident like that. It's a good rule and it should stay just as is.

Yes..Yes.. I agree whole halfheartedly. Since I can't analyze worth a darn, I think the new rule should apply for up to 5 moves. If I were allowed to touch 5 pieces, try them out on various squares my rating would double. Maybe accidentally I'd put pieces back on the wrong square, improving my position, and make other trial moves until I found one to my liking. But this might be confusing and thought of as not playing fair. Of course nothing would be intentionally so. It's all so obvious.
The tournament rules should be that if u hit the clock, that's your final move and can't change it. Touch move is a little too strict. Don't tell me you are confusing your opponent or whatever. It's kind of obvious if u move a different piece, u are changing move. And if u keep changing your mind, u lose time. Simple enough.
