they are definetly weaker than they say. i am about 1800 and i could easily destroy the 1880 rated one by just blitzing out moves. when i play the other 1800 chess.com bots its not as easy.
True strength of the Beth Harmon Bots

They're definitely weaker than advertised.
Yes, this bot is made for the fans.
I have tried all the celebrities bots. Hikaru bot seems the strongest.
My idea of strenght of Beth bot is this:
- Beth 17 years old is not 2400 but 2000 or so
- Beth 20 years old is not 2500 but 2200 or so
- Beth 22 years old is not 2700 but 2300 or so
The celebrity bot with the most accurate ELO is Botez (2100 ELO) I made the bots play against each other (in two browser windows):
- Botez vs. Beth 17yo = Botez always wins
- Botez vs. Beth 20yo = Beth always wins.
The bots don't take the time to "think", they move very fast, so the faster you play against them, the more realistic is the ELO.
So, play matches of 3 minutes, 2+1, 1+1, or 1 minute, so you can feel the strenght of the bot. If you take more time it is easy to beat them.

If that question was directed to me, then I have been playing the game since I was 8 years old.

When I play, I often see some players from my country Indonesia get good points and set themselves in the high levels.

Sorry to drag up an old post but I don't know if the bots are weaker than advertised, they certainly seem right. The engine generates the best response to any openings and wont blunder at the start meaning im just having to play "unbeautiful" chess to keep equality at the start. I have been working through the beth harmon bots as they play some interesting gambit and aggressive lines which I am analysing my defenses vs the bots attacks. I didnt have much trouble with the first couple but the 15 year old version (1880) plays me with 93+ accuracy each time. While I know this is beatable, it is playing very obscure lines because of the nature of it being an engine that no 1500-1700, if that is in fact their true rating, would typically know by heart. Maybe my brain is saturated with intermediate play but I try analysing most of my games after and it seems by the time beth bot makes a mistake I'm in no position to capitalise. This bot seemingly exceeds players in the 1700-1800 range I've encountered in unrated play. In closing, there may be ways to "cheese" the bots that an 1800 wouldn't fall for but on the whole the strength seems accurate. Has anyone got any good chess reading tips for me to up my game? I watch GM Daniel Naroditsy and others on YouTube and have learnt a lot but yearn to know more.

that 1880 bot premoved castling against me. this is ridiculous
this game was no challenge whatsoever. and im nowhere near that rating.
At 15/10 time control, all the Beth bots seem about 500 points weaker than advertised to me.
In particular, Beth 1880 recently got to a won pawn end game with me - there were two isolated blocked pawn doublets, plus one where she had two pawns to my one. Then I reran the end game against Beth 2200, Beth 2500, and Beth 2700, and they all managed to lose it the same way. It was an easy win for Komodo25, and I have to believe it would be an easy win for any 2000+ rated human.
Do the bots play the same irrespective of the time controls? That might explain why they tend to be weak on the "longer" time control, though not why Beth is weaker than the other bots.

I suppose you're right, I winning against 15y/o Beth sure is more believeble if You think of her having around 1300 instead of 1800. I'd say the gap is even bigger tho. Maybe by 600 or 700 elo points!

I’m playing the 15 year old Beth bot (1880) at bullet with no increment and I’ve only won one game and drawn two so I’m finding it tough😢.

I designed Queen's Gambit christmas Tshirts: https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/The-Queen-s-Gambit-about-Beth-Harmon-Christmas-Edition-by-brodalka20/63507893.WFLAH.XYZ Take a look/like/ love
As a lot of you on here are probably aware of, Beth Harmon is the main character in the Netflix series known as "Queen's Gambit" and eventually becomes a world-class player at the end of the series. There were several bots made of her at various ages on this site (in this case, these ages were 8, 9, 10, 15, 17, 20, 22).
With the exception of the bot of her at age 22, I have played 2 games with each Beth-Bot (1 as white and 1 as black) where no game lasted more than 15 minutes. After playing with the Beth at age 20 (where her claimed strength is at 2500), it seems like she is slightly over-rated based on her general accuracies in my games against her. In the game where I beat her while playing white, her accuracy was 92.9 compared to my 97.8 and in the game where she beat me as I played black, her accuracy was 95.6 compared to my 90. It seems like the actual strength of these bots is 100-200 points lower than what is claimed.
For those who have had a chance to play against the Beth Bots, what do you think?
