TWIC database.

Hi everyone.

I have CB 14, and I wanted to add the mega database from TWIC (The week in chess) on there. However, when I try to add it, it alsom comes in .zip form, so it says I cannot add that to the database. Anyone with an idea what to do?

I tried to unzip it, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried clicking on the CBV-version on TWIC, but it still comes up with a .zip file.

What OS are you using?

I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome as my browser (although I don't think that matters).

Each Monday evening, I go to The Week in Chess website and click on the "TWIC downloads" tab. The most recent download is at the top. I click on the "cbv" column and a .cbv (archive) file is downloaded.

Now I start up Chessbase and click on Open and select the new .cbv file. Chessbase opens it like a regular database, I click on the first game and then press CTL + "A" to select all games. Then I click on the "Copy" box.

Now I close this database and open my main games database. Then I click on the "Paste" box and Chessbase asks me if I want to paste. I click OK and it works

It's easier than I am making it sound, but I wanted to give you all the details. If you have any questions, or if you are still having trouble, let me know

The OP seems to be having trouble unzipping the TWIC files, which has to be done prior to adding to a database.

I don't copy and paste; I download the cbv file from TWIC and unzip it and then go to my main Database, click on the small arrow beneath the Paste icon and click on "Append Games".

From the box that opens, just navigate to and select the cbv file, click on Open and the games are put straight into the Database.

Hi Preparedness. I think we are basically in agreement. Using the .cbv option seems like the simplest way. I don't understand why the OP is having problems with the unzipping part. Perhaps he could give us some more details about what's going wrong.

Yes, he seemed to be having a problem unzipping/extracting, which is why I asked what Operating System he was using.
