Two chess scenes of the 14th c. in the Arco castle

Searching all around for other stuff, I've tracked the following...

They are frescoes, surviving in the ruined Arco castle; Trentino, N Italy [photos can be found in wikicommons collection]. An official site of the commune is dating them generally in the 14th c.

The story of the castle seems a little adventuresome. It changed many hands. First mention is of the early 12th c. of some Federico di Arco; I've read of a possible Italian origin of this Arco family in wiki, while also of a previous Germanic one as arimanni colonists in Cont [2010].

During the 14th c. that interests us, the castle passed through the hands of the Arco family, Castelbarco family & Della Scala family. As the castle returned to the Arcos in the 15th c., I presume that keeping those frescoes is meaning that they were theirs. [sources, wikipedia & Alessandro Cont, Biblioteca comunale di Trento. Liked the first one most. Don't know why! Wondered if the artist tried to depict certain positions in both.
