two queens?

I remember seeing a puzzle on the tactics trainer with 3 rooks. took me some time to wonder: "why???"
This rule is ridiculous.. I've honestly never heard of this. And since when can you climb ranks into royalty? A king with 2 queens.. Bulls**t. Why even give anyone the option of anything but a queen? I can see a knight because of the unique moving pattern.. But really? You'd rather have a bishop than a queen? This is bs.

I would promote to a knight it it delivered checkmate when promoted.
I would promote to any other piece if promoting to a queen leads to immediate stalemate.

i think this is a glitch in the system - in the real world where do you get the second queen from?
