Unpredictable move challenge!

First post ever. Possibly in the wrong section. Hello!

I recently played a game where my opponent kindly informed me that the moves I was making were predictable. I did point out that I am an amateur and asked what was expected of me but my opponent was, unfortunately, unable to clarify.

Moving on. Using the game as an example perhaps we could have a little challenge identifying some unpredictable moves that would have made the game more interesting.

Naturally we're looking for unpredictable moves that leave white with an advantage (as white is the one playing predictably in this scenario). Maybe we can all improve a little bit in our search.

I think one option might be to try something like the following. It doesn't leave white with much of an advantage by stockfish's standards, but it does leave both sides with no developed pieces and no queens after eleven moves. Not sure that counts as predictable or interesting though.

3.h3 is a waste of time, you should go d4 immediately. Bg4 is not a strong move by black so no need to stop it. So this was an unpredictable move. But ok black wasted time also with 3.h6. You then played a nice game and won convincingly (and I guess predictably 😀). 12.e5 was a nice move. 23.Qxd4 was I suppose more accurate than Rxd4 but you were up a rook at this point anyway.

You played normally... I don’t see what’s predictable.

It's a shame my opponent lost connection when s/he did, end game is where I get REALLY bad.

@strangemover I picked up the h3 idea from watching a video about the Sicilian Najdorf (about the extent of my theory study). Although I wasn't playing the sicilian defence as the attacker...

I haven't a clue about the effectiveness, or lack therof, for Bg4 but I'm never 100% sure how to respond to it, so tend to try and prevent the attack on the knight. Perhaps it's not such a common move at higher levels?

I had a look around for unpredictable moves. Most interesting thing I found was Santasiere's folly.

@hitthepin maybe the normality is what made it predictable? Oddly enough, if it was predictable, I wonder why it wasn't defended against. Ho hum.
