Using scid database

I just installed scid and i donno what the problem is but there is no sound.

secondly, the databases are very small i.e. no more than one variation in the french winawer etc..

can anyone tell me how to improve my user expereince. i am currently using the rebel database. I would like to use this software since it is free and my chessbase has some bugs in it.

Scid is a great choice.

What you downloaded is more of an user interface than actaul database. You have to download thise seperately, and open them with SCID. There are good free ones:

Icoffy base, which you can get form the download section here. Millions of games, but not very well taggged.

PGN mentor has lots of good quality games, and include date, event, etc. The only issue is you have to download lots of files and combine them in the end, but worth it IMO

For the first one there is an additional download for bigger opening book:

Hey guys

Could anybody try to convert cbv to pgn ? I've installed scidb, but it just stuck on opening this database: https://archive.org/download/KingBase2018/KingBase2018-cbv.zip

Am I alone ? So sorry for bothering
