I am going through van perlo's endgmae tactics. It would be nice if I could find someone who is willing to do this along with me. First of all, is anyone willing. And second, how to do this?

perhaps you could use an engine?

i dont know how that would help. also, i am trying to stay away from engines altogether.

I really enjoy Van Perlo's book. But the answers are all there for you. This isn't a standard endgame book, it's more of a tactics book. Why do you want a study buddy for this book?

smyslovfan, because it will help in exchanging ideas and generate enthusiasm. also, hopefully i will be able to get a lot more done.

The book isn't really about ideas, it's about tactics.

Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual would be better material for studying endgames if you're more interested in ideas.

the big diffeence between dvoretsky's and van perlo's books is that dvoretsky is mostly endgame theory. positions that would never ever occur in a real game. but van perlo's book covers a lot of tactical material which can be used quite frequently. thats why i prefer van perlo

Just about all of the positions in Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual have occurred in real games.

As I said, I also enjoy Van Perlo's book. But there just aren't many ideas to discuss. Either the tactics work or they don't.
