Variants of chess

Do you guys believe that certain variants of chess are more exciting than regular chess?

I for one like to play Backgammon. I think it's Chess' oldest variant, and I actually find it more exciting, and enjoyable than chess. I have not yet tried other variants like Chess 969, or Hexagon chess. 

Please share your experiences with Chess variants.

I just played my first game of randomized Chess960 recently and I've gotta say I'm really enjoying it. I can use everything I know about chess and the heavy burden of opening theory is gone. Thank you, Bobby Fischer, for such a brilliant variant!

So far I'm slaying in it, 8-0.

Checkers is undoubtedly the best chess variant. Although I also like Monopoly, Risk and Cluedo.

Checkers is an excellent game indeed. However, it's complicated nature tends to intimidate me. This is why I prefer it's less complicated variant Chess. I'm hoping by playing Chess I will improve my pattern recognition, and be able to graduate to the more complex game of Checkers. The other 3 games you mentioned are in no way Chess variants. I'm assuming this was just a bit of jestful writing done by you to add colour to the thread. Anyway thanks for the input.

Apparently there is now a variant of chess that has not yet been mastered by computers. I forgot the name, but it's popular in Asia or something.
