very frustrated with SCID need help ?

Everytime I try to imput a game this comes up

"Imported 1 game with no PGN or warnigns"

and at the bottom it only has the buttons

STOP & CLOSE

and this is with every game I tried so far and its very frustrating cause I created like 6 database already with no games trying to figure this out if you can't help with my problem do you atleast know of another free database program?

yea I even downloaded the lateset  version  so I think im just gonna get a new database program.

After you import the game into a database, you need to open the database.

I did that

OK, have you followed these steps:

1. Created a database and opened it.
2. Selected that database in the "Database Switcher"
3. Imported the PGN file or files into that database.
4. Clicked the game list button (this will give you a listing of all the games in the database). 

PS.  You are supposed to get the "Stop and Close" option after you have download the PGN file.  This is not an error message.

One suggestion is to try "Scid vs. PC" which is a bug-fix and improved version of Scid:

Yes, I've switched to this too.  So far I like it.

I downloaded a folder which holds 700 games in miniatures it was a download from chess.com and named the database "real database" even then it said "real database game 0/1?? what happened to the other 699 games. I followed everything you said in order but when I got to the game list it listed 0 for everything ? I'll try thr scid vs pc thing but most likely im just gonna find another database if I can cause scid just doesnt want to work right.

the SCID version scidvspc is fine except I dont see the "Database Switcher" feature qixel speaks of.

finallly getting some clairity but had to download the old version to get  it thanks for the help tho.

oh i'm glad SCID is starting to work for you.  It really is a tremendous program.  There is probably no need to use Scid vs PC if you are becoming comfortable with SCID.  But just so you know, the database switcher in Scid vs PC is integrated into the game list widget.  It is at the very bottom of the widget window.
