Vinyl chess boards?

The key is to roll it up with the squares on the outside. That way, when you lay it flat, the little bit of curl from having been rolled up will be in a downward direction. Putting the pieces on the board will weight it down so it'll be pretty much flat when you're playing. If you roll it up with the bottom side on the outside, the edges will curl up while you're playing.

What's everybody's opninion on vinyl boards? I mean, I know they are probably pretty durable, and easy to clean, and I'm sure there a little more portable, but is there a better alternative?
It just seems to me that the vinyl would have issues laying completely flat after you roll it up so many times, or maybe due to temperature changes.
Consensus?
