Neither Akbar nor Shivaji lived in the 5th century. Stop making up facts.
On wikipedia it's says "Chess is believed to have originated in India sometime before the 7th century."
Perhaps we will never know...
the game we know as chess did not fully form until late 15th century. The game that originated in india was shatranj. It came to the West through the Sassanian Persians via Muslim conquerors. Shantranj is also likely the originator of Shogi and its numerous variants.
It actually originates from Babylon/persia. They made it up.
it originated in Scotland, the Vikings took it to Russia, it travelled through Afghanistan, through the Punjab and India, the Turkmen brought it back via Constantinople, southern Europe, Spain, Ireland and eventually all the way back to Scotland.
