Way to make chess less boring?

Well, chess became boring for me because same openings keep poping up and I dropped from 1700 to 1300 to have some fun, but still same thing. Is there a way to make a chess fun again or it's a game of memorization of patterns and openings? I just don't find it fun like it used to be :/

Now and then some interesting games comes up, but overall it's mostly same thing and I don't find it fun to learn computer moves for openings and counter openings.

Do not worry about openings. Just develop your pieces and play for the center.
"it's mostly same thing" that perception is wrong. How about professional players who have played hundreds of games along the same lines. The seemingly small differences sometimes make a huge difference.
You can also play chess960.

I object. Learning openings can make it better. For example playing a gambit definitely makes the game more “fun” for some people. I looked at some of your games and they look very orthodox in the first couple moves. They will will probably lead to positions that you don’t like too much. I’ve heard of plenty of people playing different openings and all of a sudden they like the game again. Just go on YouTube and watch a couple different 5 min opening videos. They’ll teach you the main concepts and then you can try them out. When people say openings don’t help that much I think, “If you could play like a grandmaster for the first ten moves then why not”. Even if you don’t understand the moves then you just start the position fresh out of theory. But usually you’ll get an explanation and a plan from whoever is teaching you. But alas, this is not about getting better but having more fun and I think openings will definitely help with that. Maybe look some videos on the Sicilian, Evans gambit, and some sharp openings like that and than try some more positional d4 openings.

Drink some booze and play blitz. "More fun".

Find a show that makes you want to play chess like the Netflix show "Queens Gambit" or just don't play chess for a bit i think you're a bit dried up

I get the impression that there is more than enough in any opening to keep me busy for the foreseeable future.  I cannot claim exhaustive knowledge of any opening, and any game is interesting to me.  Even if I get positions I've seen before, there are always some nuances, and I always learn something new. That's just me.  If you want an even more vast gamespace then you can try the asian game, Go (also known as weiqi and baduk). That's very cool game, too.

Try playing Capablanca chess, I find it interesting. Not sure why it's not available in correspondence chess, or live chess here.

Try some variants such as Chess960, Bughouse and Fog of War. All can be accessed via the ‘Variants’ tab on ‘Play’.

Have fun with it

Perhaps to mix it up a bit add some excitement try playing with one eye closed or play with one hand behind your back or perhaps play standing up only on one leg. Possibilities are endless.
