Weird icons appear next to some player's names

I have been noticing many players having some weird icons next to their names. When I hovered over those icons, they said: "Show your Flair". What is this new feature?? Can anybody explain plz?

Oh so whoever has an icon next to their name, it means they have a membership? I don't sign up for any membership type, so to me, it feels weird.

I don't think you can remove that. A paying member uses that to change their flair. 

That black box will only appear for you though. Others won't be able to see it next to your username.

Yes. According to a member, this is to make the members of this site to be able to pretend that they are teenagers who are using emojis to communicate.

The thing is, no-one else can see the 'nothing' flair

If you have no flair that you wanna use, there's no icon
