What chess book should I choose to improve my chess skill

Hi, For a while I've been thinking about starting to learn chess by reading some chess books. The problem is that I completely have no idea what book would do the trick for me. I even bought one but it turned out that I lack some chess skills, so to speak, to fully benefit from this book. The book was "think like a grandmaster" and after reading several pages I gave up because it was extremely hard to me to follow chess notation written there, considering that I know all abbreviations etc. Currently I have 1600 elo on rapids and I thought that you would help me choose or advice on which chess book would be the best for me. Feel free to write your propositions in the comment section or share your experience concerning chess books.

If you want to improve in all areas of the game, I'd recommend you take a look at Yusupov's book series. It's structured like a full course. The books are called: Build up your chess 1, boost your chess 1 and Chess evolution 1. It's a lot of work, but it's not just tactics or endgames, but everything you need. This first series (yellow) is designed to get to a German rating of 1500, that's like 1600 Fide. But, honestly, I think it'll get you even higher if you put in the work.

"Think Like a Grandmaster" by Kotov is an excellent book. You cannot read it as if it were a novel. You have to study it with 2 chess sets: 1 for the main line and 1 for variations.
