what chess books should I buy to improve my calculations?

I've been working on chess extremely hard for the last 8 months and climed from 800 rating to almost 1800 (in blitz) I read The complete engame course by J. S, 60 memorable games, play like a grandmaster by Kotov, Secrets of modern chess strategy, and a little bit of opening books. Now I am thinking about buying Dvoretsky's engame manual, something from Mihail Tal and Gary Kasparov. But I am not sure what book will improve my calculations, as I never read anything about calculations before. Can someone help me please?

I see you have read play like a grandmaster, have you seen Kotov’s other book? Think like a grandmaster. I liked that one better.

Are you serious? Everything he has already read is WAAAAY above the level of that book. That would be a total waste of time. While it is a good book, anyone rated about 1000 or above will not get much out of it.

The best book I have seen on calculation is “The Inner Game of Chess” by Soltis. It’s even better if you can study Soltis’s “How to Choose a Chess Move” first, but that book is out of print and used copies are somewhat pricey. I did Inner Game first and learned a lot more from it than from Kotov.

I have never read “The inner game of chess,” but Kotov’s book “Think like a grandmaster” is super good and helpful. I would suggest reading the first part of the book without using a board. It is very hard and takes a long time but helps with your calculation greatly. The downside of the book is the algebraic notation version is super expensive. I have the descriptive notation version but I have a little trouble reading it.
