What do the numbers mean? 2|1 etc

Nowhere can i find out what these numbers mean, ive tried creating games but cant figureout whats different between a 2|1 and a 1|1 or a 15|10 ??? No idea what to even search for! And cant ask in chats without paying £2 a month... eugh

ive been on the ask help bit for ages, i didnt know they were even to do with time controls... il look that up thankyou, all i see is like 2|1 bullet... like its a game type

There are support articles on almost any subject.  You might have to rephrase your question a few times but you can usually find something.  I just typed in Live Chess and scrolled the article titles that came up until I found "time controls".

15|10 has fifteen minutes in the clock at first, but when you move 10 seconds are added on. Same with 2|1: 2 minutes on the clock at first, one second added each move.

2 minutes match with 1 second of increment

Yes it's a time control 😁
