Hmm. I think you meant to ask if it is better to use learned practical chess skills or forgetting everything you know, to rely entirely on logic, which admittedly is another type of learned skill.
You can't rely entirely on logic. Someone who knows nothing about chess won't be able to rely on intuition to figure out how the pieces moves or the point of the game. You have to at least grant them a starting knowledge of the game.
