Tilt is not as bad as people say it is. When I keep losing and my rating is experiencing free fall, I like to keep pushing the games even harder so that the tilt leads into a small emotional explosion. Once I am done releasing my high adrenaline levels, I feel much better. Only my keyboard usually requires replacing

I bet that they use it in pinball in a quite literal way, for the machine and not for the player.
The figurative way it is used in chess was already used in poker 50 years ago, probably more.
So I guess you were right in the beginning, it came to chess from poker.

There's nothing in the word "tilt" that implies frustration or bad decision making... until pinball.
Just throwing this here without any explanation isn't going to help anyone. It is pretty impossible to figure out how they use the word figuratively in pinball, even using google.
