What exercises are effective for learning chess?

Hi everyone, I'm new to chess and really eager to learn the game properly. I know the basic rules, but I want to improve my skills, understand strategy, and eventually play at a solid beginner to intermediate level. What are the best ways to get started? Are there any apps, books, YouTube channels, or courses you would recommend for someone who's just starting out? Also, how should I structure my learning? Should I focus on openings, tactics, endgames, or just play a lot and analyze my games? Any advice, tips, or resources you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Something a read, starting with end games, memorizing openings is not useful at my level, people deviates from the books, so it is important to follow general principles of development, centre and so on, no so much memorizing. But i am not a strong player, so, practice and analyse your games, especially the ones you lost

Chess steps workbooks are amazing at teaching the fundamentals in the correct order. It’s what my husband used with his students when he was a chess teacher and it’s what I used to learn too.

Bobby Fischer teaches chess is also a classic and the only chess book I’ve read cover to cover.

remote chess academy and chesslearners on youtube are both great.
