Which game type do you think is better firey blitz blazing bullet or a classical battle to test calculation. You choose!

Well i like classic long live game (30/30 or 45/45).  Here is where you can lose the game just because you are a pawn down or lose the game because you are mentally tired.

blitz is not good for starters but its good to see your understanding of that opening & etc.

bullet is not my thing. Either i cant think fast or get lagged.  Personally i think bullet is bad as you move fast (not chosing the best move) and it becomes a bad habit over time.  However, not all about is bad.  It's also very good test yourself in opening theory and understanding of it.

Long live chess win hands down in my opinion.

BTW, i see that you are very good at bullet.  What is the secret?

Blitz is a good tool to learn openings, and get positions where you can strike with a tactic. My recommendation.

Obviously, classical chess. 45+45, 90+30 and longer. Real chess.

And yet your standard rating is roughly 300 points lower than your bullet rating. Just saying. It's supposed to be the other way around, man.

I don't take STANDARD time control over the internet seriously, and prefer to play "REAL CHESS" over the board, and not online. Here is a "REAL CHESS GAME" I played today. http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-analysis/please-help-me-analyze-this-game3

Online I prefer blitz, mostly because i dont think it'd get many games finished because either of us lost connection/got interreupted if they took 60 minutes.

Would be really annoying also with the people that quit after 1 minute, and you'd have to wait 59 mintes for his clock to run out. Not even playing 10 minute blitz because of all the people that disconnect from the games.

IRL I'd like longer games.

Well, I definitely prefer to play all chess OTB as opposed to online. It's just a matter of logistics and that I can play multiple games a day online without even leaving my room, you know?

90+30 w/ 30 added on move 40 is perfect. Good game.

JagdeepSingh

OTB is the best but for me it is not easy to find so internet is the best alternative.

Blitz is a lot of fun sometimes. But too much makes a negative impact emotionally as I feel like I've wasted too much of my day doing nothing.

Tournament length games are difficult and sometimes stressful, but the competition is satisfying. In these instances I never feel like I wasted my day as I do with a long blitz session.

Bullet is for when I'm extremely tired and I don't want to think at all.

Blitz is better. You don't get to tired, nothing much if your iPad runs out of charge. In tournaments though, you need to practice longer games

Blitz is better for what? Seeing who can throw the pieces around the fastest? It certainly isn't a test of chess ability.

I play on a nice laptop. You should try it sometime. iPad's? Come on.

edit: I just looked at your profile. You have some of the worst stats on this entire site. See the correlation here? You play too much blitz. Start studying and playing long chess and your ratings will shoot up. Shoot up.

standerd is boss

i prefer 60 with 30 added on move 40 with 10 second delay

Blitz is more so reaction time and pattern matching, as opposed to strategy, calculation and tactics and I prefer the later. In fact blitz *can* be bad for your chess and health!

Amen. It's a totally, completely, contrary mindset when you're playing blitz. It kills your classical chess calculation, thought process, planning, everything.

Others have said it before: Blitz is the crack cocaine of the chess world. It's to be avoided by anyone with serious ambitions.

10 minute blitz games I find are the best.  Bullet is too fast to form anytype of real strategy.  15/10 games are good too but I find they are too slow and i end up losing patience sometimes.

See what I'm saying? Obviously a player with this mindset could never even show up to a FIDE event. They'd lose patience while registering for the tournament before they've even sat down in front of the chess board.

i vote for bullet being the one starting this i am good at bullet because i have sharpened my tactics use aggresive openings and study endgames to save calculation time we can all start a discussion why we are good at bullet blitz or standard if anybody wants

canadaprodigy845

also i love classical as it lets you calculate a lot but in my free time i like bullet adrenaline being 11 years oldalso sorry for my poor grammar i am writing with a broken arm
