I’m still figuring things out on here and would love it if someone would explain to me first what a 960 game is, and second where do you go to play it? I don’t see it as an option in the time options. I hear things like playing variations of chess games as well and have no idea where to find those either. Thanks in advance for any help.

here is all about chess 960 https://www.chess.com/terms/chess960 although i could have told but there can be a possible chance that i miss few points so better to refer official content

in short - chess 960 is a special type of chess in which apart from pawns all pieces in the rows of pieces are jumbled randomly and you need to play in that arrangement .

Regarding how to play it - although play option is available in this article but the standard and easy way to play is , go to play section you will see a option called custom when you click on it ...on top appears a box written standard on it from there you can select any variant you like to play

What do you mean by play section? I clicked on custom and all it allows me to do is enter a customized time for the game I want to play. I’m sure it me being a dummy but I don’t follow what you are saying.
