What is the fifty move rule?

justbefair

If there is a game that goes 50 moves without a pawn move or a capture, a draw is declared.

If you are just shuffling pieces for 50 moves, with no progress, then that's a fair outcome.

Not if you are trying to have the biggest chessgame ever

The real question should be, in all of the Draw possibilities that take place (both during online chess and OTB chess), how many of them--in recent history-- have ever been the 50-move-rule Draw??

A draw is declared after 75 moves. After 50 moves a draw can be claimed but does not have to (I am not sure if chess.com does not follow the FIDE laws of chess here either, though)

Not me, but there's a guy in my club who once failed to deliver a mate with K+B+N vs K (a very rare situation too, I admit) in 50 moves and had to settle for a draw.

Here 50 moves is automatically drawn in live but may be a claim in Daily.

9.3.2
the last 50 moves by each player have been completed without the movement of any pawn and without any capture.
