Here is my list of the top 10 chess players who have walked this planet (adjusting for the era they played in): What's your?
1. Magnus Carlsen: If human beings have any hope to score at least 1 or 2 out of 100 games against engines or aliens from planet Chessiter, then it must be this man. Undescribable.
2. Garry Kasparov: The undisputed emperor of the game.
3. Bobby Fischer: Two words for this man -- THE GENIUS (full stop).
4. Jose Raul Capablanca: The game of chess flowed naturally through this strategic and technical genius.
5. Anatoly Karpov: The Boa Constrictor; this positional God does not need to attack violently or go for checkmate; he will just strangle you mid-board.
6. Mikhail Botvinnik: The chess scientist known for his outstanding preparations.
7. Mikhail Tal: Who needs queens, when the magician is there? Pieces were created for being sacrificed!
8. Paul Morphy: The sharpest player of the mid-1800s. If you want to learn chess, follow other legends; if you want to love chess, make this man your idol!
9. Vishy Anand: The master with universal style and the single person leading to the chess popularity in India.
10. Tigran Petrosian: Never ever think of attacking when you are playing against the Iron Tigran. His defensive walls are almost unbreakable.
I know I have missed many legends such as Emmanuel Lasker, Alexander Alekhine, Vladimir Kramnik and Judit Polgar in this list, but that is only because of the list size limitation.
I do like your list of Vishy Anand on 9 plays I only Realized how underrated he was when I watch a video with Hikaru Nakamura And your list is unique which I like but honestly tall should not be on seven please he has at times made a lot of inaccurate sacrifices and even though at times of sacrifices are beautiful and tricky. He’s probably not in the top 10 of all time.
I really don’t agreed with Morphy on 8 plays even tho he destroyd people in the 1850s he would not be nearly as good today. I think he is a player around Levy’s level/Gotamchess. If Morphy played for example Wesley so he would not have very good chances
