I enjoy games like risk, but there, so simplistic that it ruines my enjoyment.

I play poker. Not all the time, though, it comes and goes.

If I had another 500 years to live, I would probably start playing Go. But it's just too overwhelming, chess is already quite time consuming and life is too short.

I play a lot of Paradox games.

Paradox is a Swedish wargames company, publishers of Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, Crusader Kings III, Stellaris, and several other titles.

Risk has some similarities, but luck comes into it plus multiple players. But there is strategic allocation of forces, defense and attack.
Checkers, obviously, but chess ruins it.

Feudal. Old game my dad got when he was a kid. Much more challenging than chess in my opinion

in terms of sports I think tennis and soccer / football are similar to chess - tennis because it's a turn based game and soccer because it's all about space, possession / initiative, counter attacking, defending, and taking risks.

Cool hobby, but I'm physically disabled. The best martial art imo though.

lots of turn based strategy games like X-Com and Advance Wars. Also the Total War franchise which has turn based and real time strategy elements.
