Maxx is correct.
What "GG/Good Game" Means

GG = GIT GUD

gg = good grief
I don't say nuttin no more after a game...and I only wish nobody say nuttin to me after a game...
all the drama, GG! over "thx"
doesn't matter what you say. somebody will be whining about it later because they took it to mean this way or that way...
I betcha somebody will be complaining about "not responding" to their "gg" LOL

Really Maxx Really you consider GG as GO GREEN? Are you for real. You can not be serious.
You are correct, we are never 'serious'. >:[

I often start a game in chat with wishing the other player "Good Luck". At the end of the game I usually tyep "GG" and have been known to give "trophies" to players upon being defeated. I figure it's just being nice. I've had a few people during some games tell me I should surrender to them when the middle game was barely getting started. But often, unless a person lingers around the game after it's over, I know they just don't see the final text in chat. But GG is often as good as a hand shake. I've used *S* which used to be symbolic of a hand salute like in the military.

If an opponent says something rude, I will troll their Notes page and leave a comment about their lack of common decency.
That'll show 'em.

when valentine day goes wrong ...
I knew there was something wrong this Valentine's Day!!

Why the yawn?
Because nobody ever brings this "gg" stuff up usually, you're the first one.
What matters is OTB chess. The internet is an anonymous sh1thole where people behave like idiots. No surprise live chess under 1700 is mostly a WhoFksWhoFirst jungle.
although i agree with this comment and find it rather funny, there is something that is lacking. i can detect the sarcasm in the response but i think the point would be better served with some special punctuation. the change i have made is highlighted in red. the word 'ever' should have been bolded and italicized for full effect.

GG means you lost to an American.
yes, usually it's so
Unless your a Latin American than they say
GG Essay

Dear Opponent,
I certainaly hope you enjoyed our game as much as I did.
{If you won}
I'm sorry you lost this game. I understand it is not easy to lose to someone as bad as me. Heaven knows I've done it enough times myself.
{if you lost}
Today was not really my day. I {insert lame excuse here}.
I hope we have an opportunity to play again soon.
Sincerly,

Slightly worse than eating too much ice and getting a buttache.
