When white opens with kings pawn opening and black defends with the symmetrical move of pawn to e5 what this defence called?

Cheers

ChessMarkstheSpot

1.e4 e5 can go many different ways depending on white's second move.

For example:

   2. Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 is the Ruy Lopez

while... 2.Nf3 Nc6 Bc4 is the Italian Game

or. 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 is the Four Knights

so it just depends on white's second move on what opening is called what.

Go here to find out more about 1.e4 e5  Cool

It's to early to tell, the openings followed after 1.e4 e5 is usually classified as the open games though.

e4 is B00 (King Pawn)

e4 e5 is C20 (Open Game)

It is called King pawn game!

Everyone else gives a most specific answer, but this is what I would have said.  It's a king's pawn game :)

As pointed out though it could turn into a dozen or more different openings from there though.  Ruy, Italian, 4 knights, Petroff, KIA, Steinitz, King's gambit, Latvian gambit, Evan's gambit, Blackburn gambit, and the Damiano Defense.  Heh, ok those last 2 aren't so good, but this isn't listing transpositions like into an  English or KID or pirc... and variations within openings (like the Evan's gambit in the Italian game, if I can get away with that ;) would add tons more.  That's why you have things like the ECO and game explorer for reference materials.

Is there a complete list that I can get my hand on?

Or even better something where i can enter the moves and it will tell me the opening.

Cheers Guys!

The book "Modern Chess Openings" is an ultimate reference guide and possibly worth getting your hands on.

Uhh.... what about google?

Black immediately rushes out to confront the enemy pawn. Just like Kong would, he's  not scared.
