Probably around 190
What's is Magnus Carlsen's IQ?

Carlsen plays down his amazing mental abilities, claiming he does one thing well, play chess. Maybe he wants to be seen as an ordinary Joe and not some genius freak. I find people with savant like mental skills fascinating.

What evidence do you have for this claim?
A plausible explanation for Carlsen's public behavior is that he is an antisocial dolt (that happens to be good at chess).

It is 2870 and rising...
That's his ELO, not his IQ.
I guess his IQ is probably 190ish.
On what evidence? His IQ could be that high but a considerably lower level seems more likely to me, purely on statistical grounds.
One bit of evidence I can cite is a study showing that IQ was negatively correlated with chess skill in a group of young, elite players.

@ Tkdriverx
It was completely a joke. I was saying on some level, who cares, look at his rating and at the same time suggesting that it's measure could both perhaps be either difficult to grasp it's lofty number or even could be exaggerated...
@ everyone doubting Carlsen's overall intellect
...in my perception of Carlsen is that, he is far more likely to be a certifiable level IQ than, to be that of a numb skull with only a great memory, who is too inept to do anything else in life, other than play a board game, and also too unadept to answer questions at a press conference.
Without sounding too judgemental, I tend to think most people of average intelligence and above, are able to look at a person, listen to them, see what they do and then know if their elevator can reach the top floor...it is obvious that his can but, also will give access to the roof of the tallest building and other areas restricted to most of the rest of us....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They want to know the answer see the departure of magnus carlsen vs bill gates and analyze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for me his IQ is very low by serious mistake that I clearly see the error
for me his IQ is 10
...It is obvious he can do most anything that requires a great deal of memory, patience, abstract reasoning, also demonstration of these things under stress (biggest stage, under time pressure, high expectations from fans, etc), requiring passion, and dedication. These show quite a bit of intelligence, while he also demonstrates balance in the other areas of his life. He is still a happy normal healthy young man, who isn't totally *inept socially.
*( your opinion of him not wanting to dicuss his strategies, or failures, because he isn't in the mood, and especially because English isn't his first language, isn't sufficient grounds for you to call him a social misfit, especially if you have never had to walk a mile in his shoes....
)
All of these add up to quite a gifted and intelligent individual, like him or not, you can't take anything from him. He'll be what he'll be, long after your absurdities are dissed....
