What's the difference between a Super GM and a GM?

SuperGMs are the guys who get invited to Dortmund, Linares and such. They tend to be stronger than other GMs, can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in their bare hands...

GMs are slightly weaker than Super GMs. The super GMs are better in positional play. Pawns are the soul of chess. The pawn structure decides which side is superior. Super GMs know exactly which are the best squares for their pieces and pawns. There is better coordination between their pieces. Normal GMs tend to make more mistakes over the board. For example, when Karpov became the World Champion, some GMs weaker than him asked Karpov , " We study chess a lot, we play a lot. We study the openings constantly." Karpov replied," But not the end game much? Do the opposite. Study the end games instead." I think it answers your question @ Robert_New_Alekhine.

The exceptional games and strategies that GMs are most proud of and would include in their "my best games" collection, super GMs do regularly.

It depends really, if it's a female with a rating surpassing 2500, then it's probably stronger than its male counterpart. I do have a higher opinion for higher rated players.

I'm curious as to why you say this?

Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect. I will leave you to that, don't want to spoil the party.

But they're not very good at hiding their secret identities.
Is that Vassily Ivanchuk?

It seemed like quite an interesting idea that certainly I hadn't thought of. But if you don't tell me the basis of it, I won't be able to get the joy of rationally adopting your view.
GM: The player has earned the GM title.
Super GM: There is no universal definition, but I would define this as a consistent Top 100 player (FIDE rating of course). Some people simply make the cutoff 2700, but I think that's too restrictive...I would go down to those who are a consistent ~2670.
Diakonia's answer is useless but the best one so far.
