In practical play, you don't want too many.
A player I coached on a high school team became one of the best players in our county school tournaments - of which I was USCF tournament director. In one game against a newbie, he decided to torture his opponent who didn't know enough to resign and he kept adding queens without trying to mate his opponent. He got up to around 6 and stalemated! His face was green the rest of the tournament! I lectured him about bad sportsmanship and he never did it again.

2. No pieces other than the two kings and the queens
