When another player challenges me to a game, how do I find that challenge?

I remember getting a notification that a player (a friend of mine) challenged me to a daily game. I opened the app, but I couldn’t find the challenge. How do I find that challenge?

The daily challenge should be displayed at the top of the app’s play page. At least it is for the iPhone/iPad app. I don’t know about the Android app.
Could they have sent a live challenge instead?
Perhaps it could’ve been a live challenge? I don’t know. I tried to access my previous notifications to see if I could find it there, but I couldn’t. Also, I’m on an IPad. I tried to find the challenge on the app and on the website.
