Good afternoon my dear ! i hope all is better with you and for me it is the horse ! because it is the only piece who can jump and is a super vicious piece ! it is my favourite !!

Endless-love-inactive

The strongest piece is determined during the game
A pawn may be much stronger than a useless queen in the game
The state of the game is crucial

Zen1223

It's the knight for me because they are so tricky and always fork me lol

Although... when you queen a pawn, you lose a pawn. If a queen is worth 9, then a pawn promotion is only worth 8 wink.png

As you can't lose the king without losing your game, I'm pretty sure that the King is the most important piece, much more than the Queen happy.png

Let's set every piece one after another on the center (e4)

At center, Queen has 27 moves, Rook has 14 moves,  Bishop has 13 moves, Knight and King has 8 moves and pawn has 1 move.

Therefore, Here is the order: Q>R>B>N>K>P
    1) Queen
    2) Rook
    3) Bishop
    4) Knight
[Bishops and Knights are sometimes considered of equal values (but I disagree)]
    5) King
    6) Pawn

So, according to this, Rook is the next strongest piece after Queen.

yes rook

Knight on d5 or f5 (squares where it can check the king on his queenside or kingside castle, or starting position) is better than a rook IMO.
