Which do you prefer and why, rated games or unrated game?

Playing unrated is like avoiding the scale when on a diet or refusing the thermometer when having fever.

#5 is nonsense. "Playing unrated is like refusing a thermometer - or a Covid test - when you've obviously got Covid". We can fully experience Covid without a test or a thermometer. In other words, playing unrated is fine.

I play both rated and unrated. Here, unfortunately, I almost never play unrated because I wait too long to find opponents for these games ( with time controls I prefer, this happens to me ), and I'm sorry about that. Because I find that unrated games, in addition to being relaxing, are useful : you can experiment with plans, you can have fun with opening lines that you would never practice in rated games ( and often find that they are effective, and you adopt them ). Also, contrary to what you say, at least 6-7 out of 10 unrated games are taken seriously and are definitely close.
In my opinion, at least for those who are not interessed in a continuous and stressful measurement of their own chess state, but play for the pleasure of playing chess first, rapid games are very rewarding. After all, what did enthusiasts and competitive payers do when there was no internet ? At the club, at the park, or at home, they were all unrated games. They had fun and improved by playing them.

Unrated is recommend it if you want relax play, i rarely play in here since...i just focus on my ratings, playing unrated can increase skills in a chess because peoples will not worry about their rating if they loses, Rated is where you compete with your ratings with other, i often play here because i chase ratings, also rare who play unrated so just straight rated.
