I moved to Ireland and I’m from China and I'd say XiangQi.

I tryed Chinese chess the other day and this is my experience. In 5 or 6 hours in total I managed to:

-read the wiki article plus watch a video to get the rules,

-watch 3 informative videos on Youtube, each covering one Chinese championship game between two famous GM's

-install Xiangqi.com app, play 2 games against the bot (level1 and level 2, both I won),

-on the same app play my 1st online game against a Hong Kong player, which I also won

-solve 20 tactics (18 out of 20 correct)

While it may be the case Chinese chess has more possible positions in the sense of numbers, my impression is that the solutions are more trivial. The combinations and the endgame sequences may be longer but seem to be simpler than those of chess, especially when you think of some end games like R+B vsR, QvsR or Q+PvsQ endgames which would have been even considered as a middle-game in Chinese chess (because in the main its rule for a middle game is when the chariots are exchanged).
