Open games: bishop > knight
Closed games: knight > bishop
All games turn into open games sooner or later. Calculate after that. It's quite dynamic.

I personally like the bishops more, because they usually cover more squares than the knight. I play more open games than closed games, so I'd say, the bishop
They're especially useful when you have both of them. But I have played a lot of beautiful knight tactics in games too. Bishops are useful for defending and covering as many squares as possible, while the knight is useful for forks and attacking.
I had once read in a chess book that bishops are worth 3.3 whereas knights only 3.0 ... Every book I've read since says both bishops and knights are worth 3 points. I still like bishops better though. They can do long range attacks and sometimes king/rook forks as well.
The knight starts off with slightly more value, due to the closed nature of the board, the ability to jump, and being able to reach squares of any color (bishops can only reach the squares that are the same color as their starting squares). As the game progresses, bishops become much more powerful because of their long-range capability and the ability to create pins and skewers. But knights don't really become less powerful, either. Any way you look at it, their value is almost always about 3 pawns, and not as strong as rooks (about 5 pawns) and queens (about 9 pawns).
Bishops are very strong dynamic pieces, but there are games where a knight dominates a bishop. Here is an example:

As mentioned, it depends on the situation.
Closed games, knights are better, and vice versa.
But bishops are better at pawn catching in the endgame, as they have a longer range.
I always try to exchange one of my knights for an opponent's bishop, and keep both my bishops at (almost) all costs.
So I guess you'd have to put me in the bishop camp.
It depends on the position, but in the endgame knights can be good as they can jump and cease weak pawns, however bishops can be powerful too as they can control the coloured diagonals. But like I said I feel it depends on the position but some people prefer knights to bishops and bishops to knights ....
I believe that the knight is better because it's trickier to capture and it can perform crucial double-checks,which may turn out to be game deciders.
I guess if your king is on white then oppenant's white bishop is dangerous if its in green then green otherwise knight is always much more stronger because it can jump and reciprocate their places
Most masters agree B is stronger then N and some of them even say the worst B is better then the best N! the idea is bad bishops protect good pawns! I try too keep my pieces and exchange them according to my plan so I may end up trading a B for a N but I also don't mind getting my structure destroyed to make my opponent trade is B for a N early in the game...
just watch Fisher games and youl get the power of B and B pair
The pawn is clearly superior to both. How many more times is this question going to be asked anyway? lol
The value of both pieces depends on board position, like others have said. Personally, I have no preference. I like them both, and play for positions which favor the piece with the most strategic potential.
I highly recommend you read Jeremy Silman's "The Amateurs Mind", the chapter on Knights versus Bishop. This will solve and answer all your questions on this subject!
Usually bishops are better in open games. Bear in mind a bishop pear is stronger than a knight pair because you can also checkmate with the former but not with just the latte. Also, the bishop pair is stronger because it covers so much ground, and when directed towards an enemy king, can slice through a castle very effectively. But in endgames, a knight by itself is better because of it's ability to fork and change color squares, something a bishop cant do.
Even though they both worth 3pts.,which one do you think is the better piece? I think its the Knight.
